Europe should buy US goods if it wants to avert a trade war with America, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said, CE Report quotes ANSA.

If Europe wants to avoid a trade war with Donald Trump, it must buy more from the United States, increase defense budgets and deregulate to strengthen the EU economy, Tajani, who is also deputy premier, said in an interview with Politico.eu.

The Italian diplomatic chief recalled meeting Trump in 2017 when he was president of the European Parliament, and said: "He is much more pragmatic than you might think", adding that one way to address and avoid the threat of tariffs is to create "a virtuous climate" by purchasing more goods from the United States.
