Greek Foreign Minister Expresses Solidarity with Baltic States Over Infrastructure Damage

VILNIUS – Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis reaffirmed Greece’s solidarity with the Baltic States following damage to a submarine data cable affecting critical infrastructure. Speaking in Vilnius after meeting his Lithuanian counterpart Kęstutis Budrys, Gerapetritis emphasized that interference in vital infrastructure must not be tolerated, calling for European unity in strengthening security, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

He reiterated Greece’s firm stance against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, stressing support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity. On the Middle East, he welcomed the recent ceasefire and expressed hope for long-term stability.

Addressing migration, he highlighted Greece’s shared challenges with the Baltic States in dealing with hybrid threats. He also underscored the importance of enhancing European security, promoting EU strategic autonomy, and strengthening cooperation with NATO.

The ministers agreed to deepen bilateral ties, particularly in defense, and to collaborate within the Three Seas Initiative on energy, transport, and data interconnectivity projects.
