Greek, Latvian Foreign Ministers Discuss Energy Security and Global Issues

Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met with his Latvian counterpart Baiba Braze in Riga, emphasizing that Europe cannot achieve autonomy without energy security. He highlighted the need for energy diversification and continuous cooperation between Greece and Latvia, given their shared views on bilateral, regional, and global matters, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

Gerapetritis also stressed the importance of addressing the "Russian aggression in Ukraine" and the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. As Greece prepares to join the UN Security Council (2025-2026), he affirmed support for Latvia’s voice at the UN and wished Braze success in Latvia’s upcoming candidacy. Additionally, he called for a review of the UN veto system.
