Trump Signs Executive Orders Reshaping Military Policies

Politics

US President Donald Trump signed multiple executive orders on Monday, introducing significant changes to military policy, according to the White House, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

One order removes diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, while another eliminates "gender radicalism" within the Armed Forces. Trump emphasized a merit-based system, stating, "No individual or group within our Armed Forces should be preferred or disadvantaged based on sex, race, ethnicity, color, or creed." The directive mandates a review of practices promoting race- or sex-based preferences.

Addressing House Republicans in Miami, Trump announced additional orders, including a ban on transgender individuals serving openly in the military. He stated the goal is to maintain "the most lethal fighting force in the world" by removing "transgender ideology" and ending pronoun usage tied to "invented and identification-based" gender identities. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has 60 days to implement new gender identity policies.

‘Iron Dome’ for Homeland Defense

Trump also ordered the development of an "Iron Dome"-style missile defense system to protect Americans, citing the need to prioritize national defense. "We protect other countries, but we don't protect ourselves," he said. The system will defend against foreign aerial attacks and ensure the US retains a secure second-strike capability.

COVID-19 Vaccine Policy Reversal

Another order reinstates military personnel discharged for refusing COVID-19 vaccines, offering full rank restoration and back pay. "We will restore them to their former rank with full pay," Trump declared.

Auschwitz Liberation Commemoration

Finally, Trump signed a proclamation marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, honoring the victims of the Holocaust.
