Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece at the Maximos Mansion on Monday. During their discussion, Mitsotakis expressed condolences over the recent passing of the Archbishop of Albania, who died on Saturday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

“These are difficult days for Orthodoxy,” Mitsotakis remarked, praising the late Archbishop as a remarkable leader who rebuilt the Church in Albania and dedicated his life to serving others. The Prime Minister confirmed he would attend the funeral in Tirana to honor the Archbishop's legacy.

Archbishop Ieronymos reflected on his personal connection with the late Archbishop, recalling their long-standing relationship since high school and expressing gratitude for Mitsotakis’s shared mourning.

The meeting also covered current Church-State relations, with a focus on addressing social issues and strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, according to government sources.
