Israeli Ambassador Confirms Another Bulgarian-Origin Hostage Held by Hamas

Israeli Ambassador to Bulgaria Yosef Levi-Sfari has confirmed that Hamas is holding another hostage of Bulgarian origin. Speaking to journalists, he identified the hostage as Matan Angrest, a soldier captured during the October 7, 2023, attack. The ambassador expressed hope for his safe return, emphasizing that securing the release of hostages remains a key objective for Israel in its ongoing conflict with Hamas, CE Report quotes BTA

Recently, Hamas released four hostages to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), according to reports from Reuters and the Associated Press. Among them was 20-year-old Daniela Gilboa, who holds Bulgarian citizenship. Ambassador Levi-Sfari stated that Gilboa is currently under medical observation.

The ambassador shared this information while attending an event marking the International Day of Commemoration in memory of Holocaust victims, organized at the House of Europe in Bulgaria.
