Moldova and Ukraine Strengthen Ties Amid Russian Aggression

President Maia Sandu of Moldova visited Ukraine on Saturday at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The leaders held discussions and signed a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to bolstering bilateral cooperation and addressing shared challenges, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The two presidents condemned Russia's disruption of gas supplies in Moldova’s Transnistrian region, labeling it a humanitarian crisis, and pledged urgent solutions to stabilize the situation. They also denounced Russia's hybrid attacks and interference, emphasizing the need for strong, coordinated international responses.

Both leaders expressed solidarity in supporting Ukraine's fight against Russian aggression and endorsed the Peace Formula as the path to a just and lasting peace. They highlighted their shared commitment to energy security, countering disinformation, and advancing European integration reforms.

The joint statement reaffirmed mutual respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the peaceful reintegration of Moldova. It called for the withdrawal of Russian troops from occupied territories and stressed the importance of strengthening infrastructure and connectivity between the two nations.

The visit underscored Moldova and Ukraine’s united stance against aggression and their dedication to building a stable, secure future in line with European values.
