Telekom to Invest €3 Billion in Greece's Digital Future by 2027
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Telekom CEO Timotheus Höttges on Wednesday to discuss the company's €3 billion investment plan to expand optic fiber and 5G networks in Greece by 2027, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian
Höttges reaffirmed Telekom's commitment to Greece and praised the country's progress in digitalization, stating that Greece is now "ahead of Germany in digitalisation." He highlighted the importance of a digital economy for fostering competitiveness and prosperity for future generations.
The meeting also reviewed government initiatives to enhance high-speed broadband access, including the Gigabit voucher program for households and businesses.
Government officials present included Digital Governance Minister Dimitris Papastergiou, Minister of State Akis Skertsos, and Deputy Ministers Konstantinos Kyranakis and George Mylonakis. Telekom's delegation included Dominique Leroy, head of Telekom Europe, OTE CEO Kostas Nebis, and Chief Legal Officer Irene Nikolaidi.
This investment underscores Greece's strides toward becoming a modern, high-technology economy.
