Slovenia Pledges Support for Moldova’s European Integration

Slovenia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Moldova on its path to European integration, with plans to enhance cooperation between the two countries. Urška Klakočar Zupančič, President of Slovenia's National Assembly, made this statement during her visit to Chisinau, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

During a joint press conference with Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, Klakočar Zupančič highlighted the strong friendship between the two nations, emphasizing Slovenia’s readiness to assist Moldova in its European aspirations.

“This visit symbolizes our commitment to helping Moldova on its European integration journey. We stand with you and hope this process concludes successfully and swiftly,” she said.

The Slovenian official also discussed the broader regional context, including the situation in Ukraine. She underscored Slovenia’s advocacy for sustainable peace based on UN principles and stressed the importance of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Additionally, she called for the EU’s enlargement to include the Western Balkans, Moldova, and Ukraine, emphasizing shared values and the necessity of a complete integration process.

Klakočar Zupančič congratulated Moldova on its recent electoral successes, noting that the outcomes demonstrate the country’s commitment to a European future.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu expressed gratitude for Slovenia’s support, highlighting its valuable experience as a long-standing EU member. He emphasized that Moldova looks to Slovenia as a model and partner in navigating the EU accession process. Both leaders confirmed their intention to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the coming years.
