Nikitas Kaklamanis, a New Democracy MP for Athens, was elected as the new president of the Hellenic Parliament on Wednesday. He secured 247 votes in a roll-call vote, with 50 MPs abstaining by voting 'present.' CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

As the 14th president of the Parliament, Kaklamanis assumes the role of the third-highest-ranking official in the state, succeeding Constantine Tassoulas. Tassoulas stepped down after being nominated by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the position of President of the Hellenic Republic.
