Greece's Economic Progress Highlighted, But Challenges Remain

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis emphasized Greece's improved economic situation while acknowledging ongoing challenges during an interview with OPEN TV on Tuesday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

“There is no room for celebration, but neither for undue criticism from the opposition,” Marinakis stated.

He addressed rising ferry ticket prices due to new European directives, noting that the Ministry of Maritime Affairs is working to leverage European resources to shield citizens from steep increases.

Marinakis also highlighted six government measures aimed at reducing bank commission charges, improving everyday life for citizens.

Discussing Chevron's interest in hydrocarbon exploration near the Peloponnese and Crete, he described Greece as a growing global energy hub. “This is of enormous significance, strengthening Greece economically, developmentally, and energetically,” he said.

Marinakis concluded by reflecting on Greece’s transformation from a nation in crisis to a key regional player.
