Government Denies Accusations of Energy Crisis Responsibility in Transnistrian Region

Politics

Government spokesman Daniel Voda has dismissed claims made during a meeting between Tiraspol leader Vadim Krasnoselsky and Russia’s Ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, which accused Chisinau of causing the energy crisis on the left bank of the Dniester River, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Voda stated that Krasnoselsky’s remarks mirror Moscow's messaging. “It’s no surprise he makes such statements in the presence of a Russian representative. The goal is clear: to sow distrust between the two sides of the Dniester and divert the discussion onto a Russian agenda lacking real solutions,” he said.

He emphasized that the energy crisis in the Transnistrian region was orchestrated by Moscow on January 1 through Gazprom’s ultimatum. Voda urged adherence to the 2021 gas contract, rejecting ideas like “humanitarian gas” or Tiraspol’s misinterpretation of Moldovan laws.

“Chisinau has never blocked natural gas deliveries to the left bank of the Dniester. On the contrary, we have consistently called for an end to energy blackmail. Despite our openness to dialogue, Tiraspol recently rejected a concrete proposal from experts on both sides to resolve the crisis,” Voda concluded, reaffirming Moldova’s commitment to peace and security for both banks of the Dniester River.
