Experts from Both Banks of Dniester Discuss Energy Crisis Solutions at OSCE Mission Meeting

Politics

A technical working meeting between energy sector experts from both banks of the Dniester River was held today at the OSCE Mission headquarters in Bender, initiated by Chisinau, according to the Reintegration Policies Bureau, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Chisinau presented practical solutions to address the ongoing energy crisis, including alternative mechanisms for supplying natural gas to the Transnistrian region. These proposals were designed to align with national regulations and involve the country’s competent authorities.

However, Tiraspol's response was deemed unconstructive, marked by misinterpretations and an apparent unwillingness to resolve urgent issues for the benefit of residents on both sides of the Dniester.

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian addressed residents of the Security Zone, emphasizing efforts to stabilize the situation:
"The energy crisis, artificially triggered by Gazprom, has caused significant challenges for many of you. We stand with you and are working to find swift solutions to ease the difficulties affecting your daily lives. Through decisions by the Commission for Emergency Situations, assistance has already been allocated to settlements such as Varnita, Copanca, and the mayoralties of Cocieri and Cosnita, among others in the Security Zone."

The Moldovan government reiterated its commitment to maintaining stability and ensuring support for affected communities during this challenging time.
