Albanians call out bias in police and court penalties in Serbia

The Chairman of the Albanian National Council, Nevzat Lutfiu, announced a symbolic action by Albanians in front of the police station and the Basic Court in Bujanovac, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Lutfiu stated that this action was carried out against the discrimination of Albanians by judicial authorities, which, according to him, apply different standards for Albanians and Serbs when issuing penalties.

"Today, we carried out symbolic actions in front of the police station in Bujanovac and the Basic Court in Bujanovac. For a comment on Facebook, an Albanian from Bujanovac was fined hundreds of thousands of dinars and sentenced to one month of detention. Meanwhile, the same standard was not applied when a Serb called for bombing the KKSH building. The Albanian was punished under the pretext of national intolerance, but this standard was not applied to a police officer from Medveđa who called us 'mice.' That’s why our call today was ‘Hello Police, Hello Prosecution!’” Lutfiu said.
