Greece, Egypt, and Cyprus Strengthen Strategic Cooperation at Trilateral Summit
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis hailed the "durable and excellent" cooperation between Greece, Egypt, and Cyprus following the 10th Trilateral Summit held in Cairo. Mitsotakis emphasized plans for joint activities, including investments, cultural exchanges, defense, and port collaboration. He welcomed strong participation in the business forum held alongside the summit and highlighted the nations' shared focus on enhancing strategic energy cooperation to align with national and European priorities. He also pointed to opportunities for deeper collaboration with Egypt on decarbonization initiatives.
On the Cyprus issue, Mitsotakis reiterated full support for a just and viable resolution based on UN Security Council resolutions, noting Athens and Nicosia's unified approach to regional challenges.
The leaders also addressed pressing international developments, including the situation in Syria, Libya, and Gaza. They reaffirmed their commitment to Syria's sovereignty and the need for an inclusive peace process, praised Egypt’s efforts in seeking a Gaza ceasefire, and stressed the importance of reviving peace efforts in Libya.
Additionally, Mitsotakis highlighted the leadership of Greece and Cyprus in advancing the EU-Egypt Strategic Partnership Agreement, marking a significant step in regional cooperation.
