"Today, as always, we are with the people of Georgia in their fight for freedom, democracy, and a European future. Your courage and determination inspire all of us, and Moldova stands with you on this common path," President Sandu posted on the X platform.

The crisis unfolds following a contested presidential election in Georgia. The new president, Mikhail Kavelashvili, is set to take office today, despite opposition claims of illegitimacy. Former President Salome Zurabishvili has refused to recognize the results, calling the election "illegitimate." Thousands of Georgians have taken to the streets, forming human chains in protest, voicing concerns over threats to the nation's democratic foundations.
