Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vasilis Kikilias has urged motorists traveling to rural areas during the Christmas holidays to exercise caution, as meteorologists predict adverse weather conditions, CE Report quotes Athens-Mcedonian

In an interview with Open Television, Kikilias emphasized the importance of carrying snow chains and knowing how to use them. "It's not a given that people have snow chains in their cars, and even if they do, many don’t know how to fit them," he stated.

With high occupancy rates reported in Greece's winter destinations, the minister stressed the need for safe and trouble-free travel. He warned that vehicles lacking proper equipment, particularly in snowy high-altitude areas, could cause significant disruptions. "Family outings are great, but during this period, being properly prepared is essential," Kikilias added.
