European Commission President Congratulates Maia Sandu on Inauguration

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated Maia Sandu on her inauguration as President of the Republic of Moldova, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

In a social media post, von der Leyen expressed support for Moldova's path toward the European Union. “Dear Maia Sandu, congratulations on today’s inauguration. Despite foreign forces working against you, you won fairly. Your integrity and determination inspire us all. You can count on me as Moldova moves forward on its path towards the European Union,” she stated.

Maia Sandu was sworn in today at the Palace of the Republic, becoming the first female President and the sixth Head of State in Moldova's history. She is also the first directly elected President to secure two terms.

The presidential term in Moldova lasts four years, beginning from the date of inauguration.
