Alexandroupolis-Ormenio Railroad Line Reopens with Upgrades

Deputy Infrastructure and Transport Minister Vassilis Economou participated in the final trial run of the Alexandroupolis-Ormenio railroad line on Sunday, ahead of its reopening on Monday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

During the journey, Economou inspected the Pythion bridge to ensure the readiness of the infrastructure for the restored railway connection between Greece and Türkiye.

"The Alexandroupolis-Orestiada line is a national priority and will see further upgrades," Economou stated. He outlined plans to enhance the region’s railway network, including reopening and upgrading stations in Orestiada, Soufli, and Didimotycho. "With this dynamic reopening, we send a clear message: Evros is central to our national policy and will not be left behind," he added.
