Romanian President Appoints Marcel Ciolacu as Prime Minister

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has appointed Marcel Ciolacu, chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), as the country’s new prime minister, CE Report quotes Agerpres

"The pro-European coalition has proposed a candidate that I have decided to accept," Iohannis announced on Monday at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace.

Earlier in the day, PSD, the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), and leaders of national minorities signed a political agreement in Parliament, solidifying the governing coalition.
