The Ministry of National Defence has announced its priorities for 2025, focusing on a new force structure and armament programs to strengthen the Armed Forces. According to a ministry source, the new force structure will be presented soon and is expected to include anti-drone and unmanned systems in three of four battalion types, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

On international matters, the source highlighted concerns over Türkiye's potential declaration of an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) with Syria, which could undermine the Republic of Cyprus's sovereign rights and strain Greek-Turkish relations.

Regarding European defense, the source welcomed steps toward a common European Defense but emphasized the need to reconcile EU defense priorities with strict fiscal rules that currently limit defense spending.
