Moldovan President Maia Sandu Calls for Strong Partnership with Romania
Moldovan President Maia Sandu has emphasized the importance of a strong and cooperative relationship with Romania, expressing a desire for continued support as Moldova pursues closer ties with the European Union. Speaking at a news conference, Sandu underlined Romania's crucial role in Moldova's European aspirations, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
“We want a European Romania that strengthens its role in the EU,” Sandu stated, encouraging those questioning EU membership to consider Moldova’s challenges and living standards. “Imagine what Romania could have been without EU membership. We want Romania to remain in the EU and help us join as soon as possible.”
Sandu also acknowledged the political support Moldova receives from most Romanian parties, emphasizing the value of maintaining strong bilateral relations.
“Romania is one of our key partners, providing vital support for our EU accession process and funding critical projects in culture, education, infrastructure, energy, and public services,” she said.
Romania continues to be a cornerstone of Moldova's progress, offering substantial assistance, particularly amid the ongoing energy crisis.
