Conference Highlights Civil Society's Role in Moldova's European Integration Efforts

Around 100 representatives of civil society gathered at Moldova’s Parliament headquarters for an annual conference focused on enhancing transparency in the legislative process and accelerating the country’s European integration, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The event was attended by Deputy Parliament Speaker Doina Gherman, MPs, EU Delegation Head Jānis Mažeiks, parliamentary secretariat leaders, development partners, European experts, and civil society representatives.

Discussions centered on best practices for cooperation between parliament and civil society, emphasizing civil society's vital role in promoting and monitoring Moldova’s European agenda. Participants highlighted the importance of collaboration in Moldova’s EU accession negotiations.

Deputy Speaker Gherman underscored parliament’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with civil society, noting progress in inclusive decision-making. She called for greater unity, vision, and organization to accelerate EU accession efforts.

Jānis Mažeiks highlighted civil society as a key partner in supporting parliament and advising decision-makers during the EU integration process. He reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to backing reforms necessary for Moldova to achieve EU membership.

MPs Marina Morozova and Ina Coseru also discussed enhancing collaboration with civil society through the establishment of expert councils to support Moldova’s European integration efforts.
