Tahiri declares Kosovo-Serbia dialogue a failure

Politics

The meeting of the chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia, scheduled to take place next Tuesday in Brussels, is deemed unnecessary by the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK). The head of the AAK parliamentary group, Besnik Tahiri, considers the current format of dialogue with Serbia to be a failed process, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

In an interview with KosovaPress, Tahiri also discussed the terrorist attack of November 29 on the Ibër Lepenc canal, the intervention of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) in the north, and the upcoming parliamentary elections on February 9, 2025.

Speaking about the November 29 terrorist attack in the northern part of the country, Tahiri stated that the government failed to convince allies that Serbia was behind the attack.

Tahiri was also asked about the intervention of the KSF in the north and whether a new cooperation protocol is necessary. He emphasized that building relations with NATO must happen much faster through an action plan for direct NATO membership, which, according to him, is outlined by the AAK.

According to Tahiri, Prime Minister Kurti’s entirely unstrategic, unilateral, and unconsulted approach is damaging Kosovo.

Regarding the February 9 elections, the AAK parliamentary leader expressed confidence that opposition parties will win the electoral race, while noting that forming the next government will not be an easy process.
