Ukraine to Open 11 Border Crossings with Romania to Boost Exports
Ukraine plans to open 11 border crossings with Romania to enhance its export capabilities, according to Serhiy Suhomlyn, head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development. Speaking to AGERPRES, Suhomlyn highlighted that this initiative is a top priority for the agency, CE Report quotes Agerpres
The next crossing to be inaugurated will be Fantana Alba, part of a broader strategy to strengthen infrastructure and economic ties between the two countries. “Our agency operates under the Ministry of Regional Development, and boosting Ukraine’s export potential is a key focus. Romania has been a critical partner, supporting us through infrastructure projects and military aid,” Suhomlyn noted.
Several crossings in the Transcarpathian and Chernivtsi regions are already operational, including Diacovo-Halmau, Solotvino-Sighetu Marmatiei, Krasnoilsk-Vicovu de Sus, Porubne-Siret, and Diakivtsi-Racovat. Upcoming projects include crossings at Bila Tserkva-Sighetu Marmatiei, Hija-Tarna Mare, and Iablunivka-Remeti, with agreements already signed for some of these locations.
This initiative is expected to significantly aid Ukrainian exporters by improving access to Romanian and EU markets.
