Romanian Justice Minister Calls for Transparency on Constitution Day
On Constitution Day, December 8, Romanian Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth about alleged irregularities in the presidential elections. In a Facebook message, she highlighted the role of state institutions in ensuring transparency and upholding democratic principles, CE Report quotes Agerpres
"Defending the Constitution, democracy, and citizens' rights is a crucial topic today," Gorghiu stated, underlining that Romania’s fundamental law ensures security, stability, and unity.
The minister noted ongoing investigations into crimes such as voter bribery, money laundering, computer fraud, incitement to violence, and other offenses. She stressed that incitement to hatred and aggressive political discourse have no place in a democratic electoral process.
Gorghiu called for strengthening the rule of law and improving institutional transparency to combat vulnerabilities and misinformation, asserting that free and fair elections are protected by the integrity of the legal system.
