Presidential election 2024/George Simion voted in Rome; I came here out of respect for all Romanians

AUR (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) chair George Simion, who is also running in the presidential election on behalf of this party, voted on Friday at the polling station established within the Consulate General of Romania in Rome, emphasising that he chose to vote in the diaspora "out of respect for all Romanians who still support Romania." CE Report quotes Agerpres

"I would like to thank the Romanians in the diaspora (...). I don't think it was easy for them to leave their homes, their families behind, but they did it out of necessity. To make a symbolic gesture, I've come here and voted first among all the presidential candidates out of respect for all the Romanians who still support Romania (...). My call for this weekend and for the next one - on the National Day, and also for December 8, is for Romanians to go to the polling stations (...). If we are only getting the votes from within the country, we, the opposition, will lose the elections. That's why it's important for the Romanians abroad to go and exercise their right to vote (...), even though we discovered localities, like Salerno, where there are no polling stations," Simion specified.
