Domanski Welcomes Tariff Rollback

Poland

Poland’s Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski described the recent US decision to roll back tariffs as “positive news,” signaling a willingness by the White House to de-escalate trade tensions. Speaking on Polsat News Thursday, Domanski noted the move follows a sharp market reaction to the initial tariff hike, which had raised fears of a US recession, CE Report quotes PAP

The rollback, announced by President Trump on Wednesday, exempts most countries but increases duties on Chinese goods to 125 percent. A 90-day negotiation window was also introduced.

“These developments offer hope for a more balanced outcome,” Domanski said, adding that although trade policy is managed at the EU level, Poland would continue to advocate for its citizens’ interests.

He warned that the automotive sector, especially parts manufacturers, could be hardest hit by the tariffs, and mentioned Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s talks with industry leaders. While EU grocery prices are unlikely to be affected, Domanski cautioned that redirected exports from China or Vietnam could disrupt the European market, potentially lowering prices but threatening local producers.
