North Macedonia presents Adult Education Strategy 2025-2030

North Macedonia

The Minister of Education and Science and the Adult Education Center presented the Adult Education Strategy 2025-2030, which is expected to enable greater productivity of the population and boost the development of society, CE Report quotes MIA.

Education Minister Vesna Janevska said the strategy is based on the concept of lifelong learning, which, she said, is very important for “the activation of the adult unemployed population in the country and the acquiring of skills required by the modern age and technological development”.

“Unfortunately, our population is growing older, the birth rate is low, and we need to take measures that will improve the productivity of the population. The statistics show that 25 percent of the population aged 25-64 is engaged in this type and other types of education, which is good. But, of course, we should strive to reach the European percentage which is at 47,” Janevska said.

The Minister thanked the Adult Education Center and the European Union for the drafting of the strategy, which she said is “an exceptionally important document for the implementation of reforms in the educational system set to improve the quality of education”.

Janevska said the strategy covers informal and experiential education that will be conducted by the Adult Education Center, targeting unemployed people and people from marginalized social groups to allow them to join the labor market faster.

The acting director of the Adult Education Center, Sadudin Sadiki, who recently assumed the post, thanked the Ministry, the staff at the Center, and others who helped draft the strategy.

“The main aim of the strategy is the implementation of European educational values in our system, i.e., the European educational policies and practices among the adult population through informal education,” Sadiki said, pledging a consistent implementation of the strategy to ensure it fulfills its aim.
