Moldova-EU Transport Dialogue Enhances Cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Bolea, alongside Magda Kopczyńska, Director-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission (DG MOVE), held a joint press conference in Chisinau today, marking the second edition of the high-level Moldova-EU transport dialogue, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in road, rail, and air transport, while addressing the challenges faced by Moldovan carriers and the opportunities offered by European integration. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to improving transport connectivity between Moldova and the EU.

Bolea highlighted the strategic importance of this dialogue, emphasizing Moldova's goal of integrating into European economic circuits. He stressed that the transport sector plays a vital role in Moldova's EU accession process.

Kopczyńska reiterated the EU's support for Moldova's modernization efforts, particularly in adapting to EU transport regulations. She also noted the ongoing extension of the trans-European transport network (TEN-T) to Moldova, with five EU-funded projects already in progress.

The officials also discussed the challenges Moldovan carriers face, especially due to Russian restrictions, and emphasized the need for reforms in the transport sector to ensure Moldova’s successful integration into the European transport network.

Both sides agreed on the importance of reforming Moldova’s transport sector, with a focus on legislative changes and infrastructure development, as part of the country’s European integration journey.
