Saharan Dust Cloud to Reach Romania and Moldova on March 11

Moldova

The Environment Agency reports that, according to Romania's National Meteorological Administration (ANM), a Saharan dust cloud is expected to reach Romania on March 11, 2025, due to southwest airflow. The phenomenon will also affect Moldova, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) states that current atmospheric conditions, including high temperatures and a stationary cyclone, may keep the dust in lower air layers for several days.

Air quality monitoring stations in Moldova show pollutant levels within permissible limits, but temporary increases in particle concentrations are possible. Rainfall expected on March 13 should help improve air quality.

The Environment Agency continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates. For real-time air quality data, visit: https://am.gov.md/ro/node/216.
