Moldova Urges Tiraspol to Release Illegally Detained Citizens

The Reintegration Policies Bureau has called on Tiraspol to respond to requests for the release of Moldovan citizens still illegally detained in the Transnistrian region. The appeal follows the recent release of Anton Malisev, who had been held since February 2023 and was freed on February 10, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The Bureau credited Malisev’s release to Chisinau’s diplomatic efforts, negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement, and support from international partners, including the EU Delegation in Moldova and the OSCE Mission.

Authorities reiterated that all individuals must have access to justice through legally established courts.
