Moldova to Compensate Electricity Costs for All Families Until Year-End

Moldova

The Moldovan government will cover electricity tariff increases for all families until the end of 2024, ensuring compensation for up to 110 kWh of consumption. Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu announced the measure following a cabinet meeting, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Previously, only households registered in the compensation system were eligible, but the government is now working to extend support to all families, starting in February.

The decision follows the European Union's announcement of a new aid package for Moldova, including €30 million in emergency assistance, €250 million in medium-term support, and a proposed €60 million for the Transnistrian region.

This initiative aims to mitigate the impact of rising energy prices and support Moldovan citizens through the ongoing crisis.
