Moldova’s Oldest Voter Turns 106, Wishes for Peace and European Future

Moldova

Constantin Cojocari, Moldova’s oldest voter at 106, has lived through war, Stalinist deportations, and decades of historical change. A World War II veteran from Sofia, Hancesti district, he continues to hope for peace and for Moldova to join the European family, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Serving as a telegraphist in the Romanian Army from 1942 to 1944, Cojocari survived the war but was later deported to Siberia in 1951, enduring nine years of hardship before returning home. Despite his age, he remains engaged in Moldova’s future.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, who visited him on his birthday, praised Cojocari as a "hero and symbol of our nation." The National Army also honored him, recognizing his resilience and sacrifices.

At 106, Cojocari’s wish remains clear: peace and a European Moldova.
