Tiraspol Rejects Chisinau's Humanitarian Aid Amid Ongoing Crisis

Moldova

The Tiraspol regime continues to refuse all forms of support from Chisinau, including humanitarian aid, further complicating efforts to address the ongoing crisis in the Transnistrian region. Presidential spokesman Igor Zaharov highlighted this issue during statements made in response to recent protests across several settlements in the region, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

“President Maia Sandu has consistently emphasized that the government cares for all citizens of Moldova, regardless of which side of the Dniester they live on. The well-being of everyone is a sincere priority. While we understand the justified frustrations of the people, the root cause of these problems lies in Russia’s decision to cut off gas supplies to the region,” Zaharov stated.

He noted that the Moldovan government has proposed concrete solutions to provide electricity and heating to affected residents, but these offers have been rejected by Tiraspol.

Since January 1, residents of the Transnistrian region have faced severe hardships, living without heat and electricity after Gazprom halted gas deliveries. Despite repeated offers of assistance from the Moldovan authorities, the de facto leaders in Tiraspol have denied the existence of such proposals.

President Maia Sandu reassured that Chisinau has never opposed gas deliveries to the left bank of the Dniester under the current legal framework, stressing the government’s commitment to resolving the crisis.
