Electricity Supply Secured on the Right Bank of the Dniester

Moldova

On January 14, electricity consumption on the right bank of the Dniester was fully covered without activating breakdown contracts, according to the government's communication department. Energocom, in collaboration with Romanian and Moldovan transmission operators Transelectrica and Moldelectrica, resolved the estimated deficit of 484 MWh, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Residents are encouraged to use electricity efficiently, particularly during peak hours (07:00–11:00 and 18:00–23:00), and shift energy usage to off-peak times.

For January 13, consumption was fully met under commercial contracts, with sources distributed as follows:

  • Electricity imports (Romania): 56.01%
  • Termoelectrica: 29.38%
  • Renewable energy: 9.23%
  • CET-Nord: 4.34%
  • NHE Costești: 1.04%

Consumption on January 13 increased by approximately 20% compared to the previous day, with a peak of 948 MW recorded between 17:00 and 20:00.

In the Transnistrian region, scheduled five-hour power cuts continue daily, affecting villages like Copanca, Corjova, and Varnița. Over 80% of electricity for the left bank is generated by the MGRES/Cuciurgan power plant, while the Dubasari hydropower plant and technological flow provide 12.43% and 0.42%, respectively.

On the right bank, thermal energy generation and natural gas system operations remain stable, with no risks reported.
