President Maia Sandu was honored with the Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi European Prize during a ceremony in Brussels. The award, inspired by the vision of Pan-European Union founder Richard von Coudenhove-Kalergi, recognizes leaders who promote European unity, democracy, and shared values. Prince Nikolaus von Liechtenstein, President of the European Society Coudenhove-Kalergi, commended Sandu’s leadership, noting her dedication to Moldova’s integration into the European Union despite ongoing challenges. He praised her for steering the country toward a stable and prosperous future as part of the European community.

The award signifies recognition of Moldova’s progress in democratic reforms and its efforts to align with European values, affirming its aspirations to become an EU member. The honor does not carry a financial reward.
