President Osmani Remembers Pope Francis with Deep Sadness and Gratitude

Following the death of Pope Francis, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, expressed deep condolences and profound sorrow, remembering him as an extraordinary spiritual leader who inspired the world, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

President Osmani shared memories of her meeting with Pope Francis at the Holy See, recalling the promise he made to visit Kosovo.

"I will come to Kosovo," was the promise Pope Francis made during my audience with him at the Holy See, Osmani wrote, highlighting his deep love for smaller nations, especially the long-suffering people of Kosovo.

Osmani wrote that unfortunately, the visit never came to pass, as His Holiness Pope Francis has now passed away, but he will be remembered as a spiritual leader who, with humility, wisdom, and boundless love, gave the world a rare example of humanity and service.

"Pope Francis will be remembered as the Pope of peace, of the poor, and of interfaith dialogue — a figure who gave strength to the voice of compassion and lived his mission with courage and devotion. The people of Kosovo will forever be grateful for his warm words and continued care. He was a voice that gave meaning to the suffering of the innocent and hope for a brighter future," she wrote.

On behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, Osmani extended her sincerest condolences for this great loss to the Catholic Church and all of humanity.

Pope Francis passed away on April 21, 2025, at the age of 88.
