Italian Government Dissolves Caserta Municipality Over Mafia Influence
The Council of Ministers, according to what ANSA has learned, has dissolved the Municipality of Caserta on the proposal of Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, due to influence from organized crime, CE Report quotes ANSA.
The same measure was also taken for the municipalities of Aprilia (in Lazio), and Badolato and Casabona (in Calabria).
“The dissolution of the Caserta Municipal Administration decided today by the Council of Ministers is a political act as well as an abnormal administrative act,” commented Caserta Mayor Carlo Marino.
“We will immediately request access to the documents and, subsequently, challenge the decision before the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) of Lazio.”
