Italian Senate Puts Security Bill on Hold to Avoid Legislative Overlap
The first item on the Senate agenda is the Security Bill, CE Report quotes ANSA.
In light of the fact that the government has issued a decree that largely coincides with the bill, and has presented it to the Chamber of Deputies, it is appropriate to suspend discussion of the bill until the outcome of the decree’s conversion; both houses of Parliament cannot proceed simultaneously on the same issue.
This was stated at the beginning of the Senate session by Lucio Malan, the leader of the Brothers of Italy (FdI) group.
The request is now being discussed, with opposition parties protesting the issuance of the decree.
