Health crisis leads to death of inmate at Kosovo Infectious Diseases Clinic
The Kosovo Correctional Service has announced that an inmate, identified as A.M., passed away while being treated at the Infectious Diseases Clinic at the University Clinical Hospital of Kosovo.
He was admitted to the Pretrial Detention Center in Pristina on November 14 of last year, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
"At the time of admission, his condition was stable, but with prior pulmonary disease indicators. He was being treated for a flu condition, which progressed to the lungs. For this reason, he was sent for specialized pulmonology consultation," stated the Correctional Service.
According to the announcement, A.M. passed away around 9:50 PM.
"At the Emergency Clinic at SHSKUK, the radiologist, pulmonologist, and thoracic surgeon were consulted, and the patient was transferred to the Infectious Diseases Clinic. His condition began to worsen, and despite the efforts of the clinic staff, the patient could not be kept alive," the statement read.
An autopsy is expected to verify the cause of death, while authorities are conducting legal procedures.
