Czech Republic Calls for Accelerated EU Accession Talks

European Union

The European Union should discuss EU enlargement more intensively with other countries, Czech Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvorak said, according to whom, in light of the current geopolitical situation, the arrival of new members would strengthen the EU's security and competitiveness, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

In Prague, Dvorak had a meeting with the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Slovenian Marta Kos.

According to Kos, the enlargement process is in a new phase, as it has never before faced "divisive forces that want Europe to fail," reports HANDLE.

The candidate countries are Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Turkey and Georgia.

"EU enlargement is a great challenge and at the same time an opportunity that could have a decisive impact on the future of the European continent as a whole. Today, this topic is once again and rightly at the center of the debate," the Czech minister explained.

On May 1, the Czech Republic will celebrate the 21st anniversary of its membership in the EU.
