Italy braces for Black Friday of transport strikes
January 10 will be the first Black Friday for a rail and local transport strike across Italy, called by grass-roots unions, CE Report quotes ANSA.
'Autonomous' union workers will walk off the job from nine pm Thursday to the same time Friday in a protest against pay and conditions.
Last year was a record year for such strikes with 622 stoppages, many of them transport strikes on Fridays.
Transport Minister Matteo Salvini, who is also deputy premier, has issued several back to work orders to limit the duration of strike action.
Friday's strike is expected to cause major disruption to services and inconvenience for commuters around Italy.
