Moldova Boosts EV and Hybrid Use

Energy

Moldova has made major strides in electric and hybrid transport, registering over 64,000 such vehicles since 2018, according to the National Centre for Sustainable Energy (NCSE). This includes 6,612 electric and 57,879 hybrid vehicles, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

In the first quarter of 2025 alone, 828 electric cars were registered—a 266% increase from the same period in 2024—while hybrid registrations rose by 281%, reaching 6,396.

NCSE says this rapid growth supports sustainable mobility, cuts carbon emissions, and enhances quality of life. Experts also highlight the role of electric cars in absorbing surplus renewable energy, like on April 14, when renewables made up 36% of Moldova’s energy mix, offering an ideal opportunity for eco-friendly vehicle charging.
