
Energy Efficiency Boosts Learning Conditions in Chișinău Schools
A ceremony was held today at Matei Basarab Theoretical High School in Chișinău to mark the completion of energy efficiency upgrades as part of a broader project to improve educational facilities in Moldova amid the Ukrainian refugee crisis, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
The project, funded by the Czech Republic’s CzechAid, involved energy audits, thermal insulation, electrical upgrades, and window replacements, resulting in significant reductions in energy consumption and enhanced learning environments.
Guillermo Llinas, Country Director of People in Need Moldova, emphasized the long-term benefits for students, citing the project’s role in supporting both educational improvements and social inclusion during crises.
Valentina Olaru, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education and Research, highlighted the project's impact on student performance and its alignment with sustainable education practices.
With a budget of over 10 million Moldovan lei, the renovations impacted five schools across Moldova, including schools in Chișinău, Bălți, and Ceadîr-Lunga. Czech Ambassador to Chișinău, Jaromír Plíšek, praised the project’s success, particularly in response to the refugee crisis and the energy challenges posed by the war in Ukraine.
Local officials, including Deputy Mayor Angela Cutasevici, expressed gratitude for the contributions of People in Need and CzechAid, underscoring the importance of the project for the city's educational infrastructure.
