Energocom Purchases Gas for Transnistria with EU Support

Over the past week, Energocom has acquired 17.275 million cubic meters of natural gas for the Transnistrian region using funds from a European Union grant, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Gas deliveries began on February 1, with daily volumes varying between 450,000 and 3 million cubic meters. The maximum daily supply, set by the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE), was reached on February 6 and 7.

The EU provided Moldova with a 30 million lei grant for energy purchases, allocating €20 million for gas on the left bank of the Dniester and €10 million for electricity on the right bank.

This support follows Gazprom’s suspension of gas deliveries to Moldovagaz as of January 1, 2025, despite an active contract until 2026. The move left Transnistrian consumers without heating and hot water.
