Energy storage through batteries will stabilize Kosovo's power system

Energy Storage System Through Batteries to Stabilize the Country's Power System and Reduce Energy Import Costs

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, stated this during a conference organized by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCA Kosovo) regarding the prequalification procedures for the design and construction of large-scale battery energy storage systems, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that this energy storage system will enhance the security and reliability of the energy supply. He noted that 125 megawatts of this system will operate under the Energy Corporation, while an additional 45 megawatts will be managed by KOSTT.

The Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, expressed that the Compact Program has been the right decision for Kosovo's energy system. She stated that implementing this project will save Kosovo's power system over €15 million annually.

The Resident Country Director of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Rinor Gjonbalaj, highlighted that the energy storage system will be the first of its kind in the region.

According to him, the system will provide energy stability through battery technology.
