The Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) has approved critical measures to ensure the reliable supply of electricity and natural gas to several villages in the Security Zone, currently connected to infrastructure on the left bank of the Dniester River, the government announced, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
Villages such as Varnita (Anenii Noi district) and Copanca (Causeni district) will transition from the left bank’s electricity networks to those managed by Premier Energy Distribution. Operators have five working days to propose updates to their development and investment plans, which the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) will approve within three days of submission.
Meanwhile, the villages of Pohrebea, Cosnita, Parata, Dorotcaia, and others in the Dubasari district, along with Harbovat and Copanca in the Causeni district, will be connected to Moldova Gas’s natural gas distribution network. Similar timelines apply for submitting and approving the necessary plans.
“These infrastructure upgrades should have been done years ago, but it is our responsibility to act swiftly now,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean. “We must ensure access to energy and gas for these communities, despite potential challenges.”
Additionally, the National Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) will supply generators to critical institutions in Varnita and Cocieri, including kindergartens, schools, and water supply systems.
The government has allocated 233,000 lei from its intervention fund to support public services in these areas. The Varnita council will receive 152,000 lei for fuel and pellets, while Cocieri will get 81,000 lei for electric boilers and diesel. The Peacekeeping Forces will also transport diesel to facilities in Cocieri, including a care center for elderly and disabled residents.
These measures aim to enhance energy security and improve living conditions for residents in the affected villages.
