Kolo-Slavuj ensemble receives Croatia’s prestigious Charter
President Zoran Milanović awarded the Charter of the Republic of Croatia to the Kolo-Slavuj Folklore Ensemble of Burgenland Croats for their contribution to preserving Croatian cultural heritage and their exceptional achievements in promoting the Burgenland-Croatian culture for over 50 years, CE Report quotes HINA.
"I wish you much success in your future work and performances in Austria and beyond, where you represent the traditional Burgenland-Croatian dances and songs," said the president, per a press release from his office.
Milanović expressed his satisfaction at having had the opportunity to visit a part of the Burgenland Croats during his visit to Eisenstadt in Austria at the beginning of his first presidential term and expressed his hope that he would visit other areas where they live during his second term.
The president of the ensemble, Gabriela Novak-Karall, thanked the president and said the Charter is not only an acknowledgement of the ensemble’s work but also of all Burgenland Croats.
Kolo-Slavuj is the central folklore ensemble of the Croatian minority in Burgenland, which, since 1971, has brought together members from various Croatian communities in Burgenland, Hungary, Slovakia and Vienna, where its headquarters are. Its diversity extends beyond the Croatian community, and in addition to preserving the traditional repertoire, it explores new artistic expressions, combining folk creativity with contemporary dance and musical elements.
