Exploring Antarctica: Bulgaria's Contribution to Global Science
An exhibition featuring 24 photographs by Oleg Vasilev, a researcher from the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, is on display in Burgas. The images capture the remote and uncharted areas of Antarctica, as well as the work of Bulgarian polar explorers. The "Bulgaria's Contribution to the Exploration of Global Science" exhibit is located in front of the NHK Cultural Center and will be open until April 20, CE Report quotes BTA
The exhibit, organized in collaboration with the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute and Prof. Christo Pimpirev, offers a unique look at Antarctica’s inaccessible territories, many taken from drones. The photos highlight not only the continent’s stunning beauty but also important scientific discoveries, such as the gold found near the Bulgarian base on Livingstone Island.
Journalist Blagoy Tsitselkov, who helped create the exhibit, shared fascinating stories behind the photos, including a moment when Vasilev observed whales feeding in a pattern resembling the Fibonacci sequence. The exhibition is part of the First LEGO League robotics festival, which focuses on ocean exploration this year. The festival, which will take place on April 12-13, also includes a film festival and hands-on activities for children to explore science and technology. The event highlights Bulgaria’s significant contributions to global science and aims to inspire the next generation of innovators.
